Icons of Industry
A Music Collective
Icons of Industry is a collective founded by vocalist and songwriter Roberto Montoya. They collaborate with musicians worldwide and work with some of the best producers, engineers, and cinematographers to create engaging and thought-provoking content. The songs resonate with fans of heavy music and appeal to those looking for melody, sonic texture, and dynamics. The lyrical themes expound on topics like history, science, and the human condition.
They released Blood of the Ancient Vine (Original Motion Picture Soundtrack), the score for the lauded historical documentary by independent filmmaker Edwin Brochin. The music is inspired by the traditional songs of the Iberian Peninsula and features modern production elements like synths, electronic strings, and experimental sound design. It won the prestigious Best Original Score award at both the Madrid and Milan International Film Festivals in late 2024.
Their latest release Heavy Locust Double-A features the synth-laden prog rocker Heavy Locust and the cinematic power-ballad Eloquence. They worked with London based engineer and producer Sefi Carmel (David Bowie, Massive Attack) and with musicians from seven different countries to deliver the compositionally intrepid and sonically rich release.
